Overview

You meet Lucy, the 3.2 million year old hominid, at the National Museum, visit Holy Trinity Cathedral, where Emperor Haile Selassie is buried, and enjoy a traditional coffee ceremony. Detailed Itinerary
Morning tour (about 9am to 1pm)
Pick up from your hotel. Start at the National Museum to see Lucy and finds from the Ethiopian kingdoms. Visit Holy Trinity Cathedral, with its stained glass and the tombs of Emperor Haile Selassie and Empress Menen. Drive up to Entoto for views over the city and the church of Entoto Maryam, then come down for a traditional coffee ceremony before drop off at your hotel.
Afternoon tour (about 2pm to 6pm)
The same highlights in the afternoon: the National Museum and Lucy, Holy Trinity Cathedral and a coffee ceremony. Instead of Entoto, drive through Piassa and Merkato, one of the largest open air markets in Africa, and finish at Meskel Square as the city lights come on. You can swap any stop for the Red Terror Martyrs Memorial Museum or Unity Park.

The tour runs every day, all year. Museums are closed on some public holidays, and on those days we visit other sites instead.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes that cover shoulders and knees for the churches. Addis Ababa is at 2,355 metres, so it can be cool in the mornings and evenings.
