Ethiopian Airlines Expands Domestic Flights With 3 New Airports in 2026 as per the airlines` recent announcement HERE. Ethiopian Airlines will begin new passenger flight services by mid-April 2026, further increasing the country’s internal air connectivity.

The new domestic airports will serve 

  • Negele Borena
  • Gore Metu
  • Debre Markos

Ethiopian Airlines will operate thrice-weekly passenger flights to each of the three new destinations. With the addition of Negele Borena, Gore Metu, and Debre Markos, the airline’s domestic network will grow to 26 destinations, making it one of the most extensive domestic aviation networks in Africa.

This expansion improves travel accessibility across Ethiopia and reduces travel time between major cities and emerging regional hubs.

Commenting on the announcement, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mr. Mesfin Tasew stated that the inauguration of the new airports marks a significant milestone for both the airline and the country.

He emphasized that the expansion reflects Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to enhancing domestic connectivity, promoting regional development, and supporting economic growth by providing safe, reliable, and efficient air transportation throughout Ethiopia.

As part of its broader domestic expansion strategy, Ethiopian Airlines continues to invest in airport infrastructure upgrades, improved passenger services, and operational efficiency.

The airline previously inaugurated Yabello Airport in 2025 as its 23rd domestic destination, underscoring its ongoing focus on expanding and modernizing Ethiopia’s internal air transport network.
